NEW YORK TRANSIT AUTHORITY hails not from the Big Apple, but from Bristol. His real name is Mensah Anderson, but you probably know him simply as Mensah, the dubstep producer who’s released extensively on H.E.N.C.H. and most recently Mala’s Deep Medi Musik.

Mensah first adopted the New York Transit Authority name for a split 12″ release with Conqueror on Redlight’s Lobster Boy label last year. His side, a slinky, 808 house number entitled ‘Off The Traxx’, was caned by DJs like Loefah and Pearson Sound, and deservedly found its way into FACT’s 50 best tracks of 2011.

New York Transit Authority's debut mix recently dropped (via Fact Magazine), and features some new NYTA material alongside the likes of Art Department, Disclosure, Mala, Mickey Pearce, Jessie Ware & T Williams.

The tenth artist confirmed for Countdown New Years Eve 2011 is a man who has climbed the ranks of the UK dubstep scene, to become one of the biggest names on the circuit, Dub Police's SUBSCAPE !!

Anthony Peters (aka Subscape) hails from Woking, and exploded onto the Dubstep scene in 2008 with his debut track 'Tomahawk', released as part of Dub Police's 'Licence To Thrill' series. Fresh out of music college, the young producer had been picked from obscurity by Dubstep legend Caspa, and signed to his 'Dub Police' label, where he now releases alongside the likes of heavy hitters Rusko, Emalkay, Trolley Snatcha, D1, Doctor P & The Others.

dollop: Oneman b2b Jackmaster (with MC ASBO)

This Friday (December 2nd) dollop are back at Stealth with an unbelievable lineup. Alongside the likes of James Blake, Boddika, Dark Sky, Benji B & Eliphino - they also have a special back-to-back set from ONEMAN & JACKMASTER, which will be hosted by Boiler Room/Standard Place's resident MC, ASBO.

Individually they are regarded as two of the most technically gifted DJs in the game, and we were lucky enough to witness their set at the Major Lazer Notting Hill Carnival Party this summer - and boy, was it special!

Jack ‘Jackmaster’ Revill has been surging ahead on a wave of elastic alien syncopations for time. A member of Glasgow’s legendary Rubadub crew since the age of 14, his labels Dress 2 Sweat and Wireblock have been pivotal in launching the careers of trailblazing producers such as Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, or Night Slugs’ L-Vis 1990. His main focus, Numbers, sees him at the forefront of new electronic music again. With releases from some of the finest names in post-dubstep, such as SBTRKT, Untold, and Deadboy, he keeps collecting accolades from forward thinking folks the world over. First and foremost though, Jackmaster is a DJ. A thoroughbred entertainer and impeccable selector, his sets range from bass to boogie, raw Chicago house to 80s wedding classics. No wonder he was just named "Best Breakthrough DJ" by DJ Mag.

Dexterously blending the best of bass music, Oneman has built a name by championing the pick of dark UK garage - that bypassed most people's ears first time round - with the cream of house and a smattering of dubstep. Quoted as wanting to make people dance and dance to good beats, Oneman succeeds with his slick mixing and ability to join the dots between the last fifteen years of the UK's hardcore continuum. Co-founder of Boiler Room resident night Standard Place, Oneman has 2-stepped his way onto a ridiculously long list of the top venues and club nights in the scene, including FWD>>, DMZ, and Night Slugs. In 2010 he founded his own imprint 502 Recordings, representing "new sounds born out of the collision of many modern forms of UK underground music".

Here is a recording of their hour long Carnival set, via the lovely guys at the RBMA:

ONEMAN & JACKMASTER play at dollop on Friday 2nd December alongside James Blake, Boddika, Benji B, Dark Sky, Eliphino & lots more.

The EP's title track 'More Than Me' has seen support from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Giles Peterson & Jamie xx (who played the track during his recent b2b Boiler Room set alongside Caribou).

Here is a link to this mix (and don't forget to head over to the dollop website for the full content):

The sixth act confirmed for Countdown 2011 is...

The sixth name confirmed for COUNTDOWN NYE 2011 is one of the most popular radio and club DJs in the business - Radio 1 & Radio 1Xtra's local legend MISTAJAM !!!

Forget trying to nail MistaJam to a genre for he’s a DJ who’s from the school of thought where only those who’ve perfected the art of mixing need apply. If it has a big beat, bassline and melody, chances are Jam’s in it. Regularly causing people to get bunions at some of the finest clubs around the world, his fearless approach to delivering the ultimate blend has seen his army of supporters grow as quickly as he’s shrunk.

Not bad for the Nottingham boy, Pete Dalton, who started in the game proper at 14, cutting his teeth working with local youth soundsystems, playing multi-genre sets, working with Nottingham rap crews and graduating to playing house parties, youth clubs, carnivals and such. Continuing to keep it really real by writing for magazines such as the now defunct Grandslam & Big Daddy, becoming go-to DJ for acts from both the US and UK, and putting on many events in Nottingham, there’s no denying Jam is a grafter.

Joining BBC Radio 1Xtra in 2005 after being talent scouted at one of his own Nottingham events to host an overnight Thursday night Hip Hop show, his attempts at injecting humour and taking musical risks didn’t go amiss. Moving up the ladder onto other, higher profile radio slots to show the multi-genre skills he had since his youth soundsystem days has subsequently led to the peak time evening slot he now holds. MistaJam is now regarded as one of the go-to-men for breaking new music in British radio. Hoping for the broadcasting longevity and versatility of Terry Wogan, the technical skills & deck-confidence of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the kudos of his broadcasting heroes the late John Peel, legendary David Rodigan MBE, ultra credible Pete Tong and groundbreaking Trevor Nelson; Jam is certainly on the right track.

To listen to Mistajam's Radio 1 & 1xtra show visit his iPlayer link.

Mosca (Night Slugs/Numbers) at St Vs R!

MOSCA (Night Slugs/Numbers)

On Saturday 26th November we are pleased to welcome back Mosca, to headline our weekly Stealth Vs Rescued event.

As a producer and Dj Mosca has been working tirelessly since making his Nottingham debut for us at Girls Go Free back in April 2010. His debut 'Square One EP' kick-starting the Night Slugs label, from which his track 'Nike' was voted XLR8R's 'favourite tracks of 2010'. His remix of 'Heartbeat' took the world of UK funky by storm, while hiphop tempo 'Tilt Shift' united ravers from grime youngers to soulful house heads.

Mosca's tracks are primarily built to power dance floors, but they are also deceptively sophisticated. The London-based artist draws influences from dancehall, grime, bassline, UK garage, funky, hiphop and all types of underground deep, soulful and techy house, as well as dabbling in techno, world beats and RnB. But having played straight sets of house, bashment or grime, Mosca is no stranger to perfecting a certain sound.

Mosca's biggest release to date is the double a-side 'Done No Wrong'/'Bax', which dropped toward the end of the summer on Jackmaster's Numbers label.

Done Me Wrong by DeejayMosca

Championed by Gilles Peterson, DJ Q, Mary Anne Hobbs and Benji B as well as having regular airplay on Rinse FM, Deja Vu FM and other pirates, Mosca's appeal is broad and stretches far beyond the UK.

As a recent thank you to his fans Mosca gave out a free EP, entitled '5,000 Followers', which is available for download via the Night Slugs site. His most recent release came in the form of his 'Wavey EP', released on Martyn's 3024 label.

The third act confirmed for Countdown 2011 is...

DBridge is a veteran producer and one of the most respected artists in drum & bass; an artist whose multiple transformations and evolutions glide through a staggering list of achievements. Over the course of a long and distinguished career, he has been at the heart of some the most exciting collaborative partnerships drum & bass has ever seen from Future Forces to Bad Company and mostly recently Club Autonomic.

Forging a strong bond with Instra:mental, they showcased their Autonomic sound with an award-winning Fabriclive mix CD, worldwide tour and residencies for Fabric and Rinse FM. In 2011, dBridge returns the focus to his label Exit Records with the Mosaic Vol. 1 compilation and more artist LPs as he continues to be a mentor to the new breed of producers inspired by his career.

Originally producing alongside his brother 'Steve Spacek' (now of Africa Hitec), Darren soon found himself working with UK hardcore group Armshouse Crew, the production posse responsible for Lennie De Ice’s proto-jungle anthem ‘We are IE’.

His debut (as DBridge) came out on Trouble On Vinyl, and soon after he met fellow producer Jason Maldini and the pair went on to form Future Forces. Their early productions stood apart from rest and so a new imprint, Renegade Hardware, was established to cater for the tougher, grittier sounds they were creating. Combining forces with two equally divisive producers, Fresh and Vegas, the scene-defining Bad Company solidified dBridge’s next chapter. Creating a myriad of anthems that to this day will be heard played (and rewound) any number of times at any D&B night, in any city around the globe (‘Planet Dust’, ‘Hornet’, ‘The Nine’), in BC’s 5+ years of working together, they redefined dance -floor Drum and Bass.

In 2003, dBridge opened a new chapter with the first release on his own label Exit Records, which was followed by releases for the likes of Soul:r, Creative Source, Liquid V, Metalheadz, Reinforced, Hotflush, 3024 and more.

More than just a platform for his own music, Exit Records is the fruition of a lifetime goal for Darren and has developed to encompass styles beyond strictly drum & bass, enabling him to work alongside the likes of Skream, Commix, Concord Dawn, A.I, Fierce, Calibre, Rufige Kru and Instra:mental. A vocal appearance on Martyn’s ‘These Words’ and further solo singles like 'Wonder Where' and 'Inner Disbelief' have gone on to cement the dBridge vocal as a distinctive, unique instrument.

dBridge crossed paths with two equally open-minded kindred spirits, Instra:mental (aka Boddika & Jon Convex), and eventually formed a creative alliance as Autonomic. which spawned a club night, a podcast, an umbrella for their labels, and, most crucially, a sound. Effortlessly blurring lines, the Autonomic sound was showcased on their award-winning ‘FABRICLIVE 50’ mix CD, a radio show on Rinse FM, a globe-spanning tour, as well as an Autonomic club residency at Fabric.

BR #62 dBridge from BOILER ROOM on Vimeo.

As for DJing, dBridge is now cemented as one of the most important, and innovative DJ's on not just the Drum and Bass scene, but the electronic music circuit, holding a residency at Fabric as part (of the Club Autonomic residency), playing at Outlook Festival and the Boiler Room U-Stream show as well as breaking new ground by playing at Berlin’s home for techno, the legendary Berghain club.
