Casino Times & Citizen at Surface, Stealth

  • Thursday 11th October 2012
  • Supported by: Casino Times, Citizen, Ellis & King, Surface Residents

One year ago, Surface opened their doors for the first time offering Nottingham a mid-week party showcasing some of the finest up and coming artists in the UK, aimed at music lovers who wanted to hear an eclectic mix of deep house and disco during the week around like minded people.

Casino Times (Wolf Music)

You will probably have first have heard of Casino Times when their incredibly catchy future classic 'Thats The Truth'. The Chaka Khan-sampling hands in the air track gained play by many highly regarded taste makers including Jamie XX, Wolf & Lamb, Bicep and Solomun.

The boys are quickly gaining a reputation as knowledgeable, eclectic and talented djs, as in their productions, their DJ sets still manage to strike that emotional chord whilst keeping those feet stomping and those bootys bouncing, leaving achey armed crowds of smiling faces behind them. This skill has earned them a residency at Corsica Studios flagship night 'Tief' where they have played along side the likes of Morgan Geist, Todd Terje, Hunee, Omar S but to name a few as well as consistent string of dates from Bristol to Berlin.

The release was quickly followed up by a succesful release on French boutique label 'Anchor Factory' along with a remix of Jozifs 'Twilight' ft. Terri Walker, a slightly darker remix of Greymatters Wolf Music classic 'Give it to me slow' and an uplifting, melodic remix of Totally enormous extinct dinosaurs 'Tapes & money' on Polydor all displaying the versatility the boys possess.

Citizen (Love Fever, Madhouse)

Citizen is from London by way of Nottingham and at this early stage that’s all we know, but we already know all we need to know about his productions even if there is just the handful released to date. They’re brilliant. Citizen’s output is full of character and flair charged with memories of the past glory of early 90s House music.
