QUEENIE (Greenmoney/Black Butter Records)

Coming from a genuinely musical family, Queenie was always going to make a name for herself in the music world, and boy has she done that. Hailing from London she is a multi-talented (and classically trained) singer, songwriter, DJ, violinist, pianist and producer who, despite her ‘proper’ musical credentials also spent her youth consuming the house and garage beats of the day. The result is that she is a unique artist coming at things from a very different perspective than the norm.

Her own productions are characterised by unforgettable basslines that really reach out and grab you, as well as, of course, coming with searing and soaring vocals that drill right into your heart. It’s an approach that is working, with tastemakers like Radio 1’s Annie Mac and MistaJam, as well as the likes of Eton Messy & Redlight.
