Lewis Jankel, otherwise known as Shift K3Y, started playing around on the piano at an early age, a keen musical ear led to experimenting with a number of other instruments to try and find his grounding as a musician. A defining moment came when Jankel’s dad brought home a copy of Logic 5, opening him up to the world of music production and all its possibilities. With Logic in his life Lewis spent the last few years honing his composition and production skills, but something was missing... The final piece of the puzzle came into play following his final year at school when Lewis decided to throw his voice into the mix. It was the right decision. A smooth and soulful delivery, sharp lyrics and infectious melodies, often chopped, looped and layered, married with brazen beats and seismic bass to devastating effect. And so Shift K3Y was born.

2011 saw his debut EP 'Step In The City' released via Bullet Train Records, the label run by Marco Del Horno, who picked up on this talent straight away. The response from 'Step In The City' was pretty instant too and track’s like “Manage Ya” gained support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, Radio 1xtra alongside a healthy bunch of big name artists in the music scene. In 2012 the love at Radio 1 continued, with Annie Mac tipping Shift K3Y as 'one to watch’ for 2013 off the back of his self vocalled Trap anthem ‘Let You Down.'

2014 has continued to be a massive year for Shift K3Y with his latest release 'Touch' being featured by Mistajam on BBC Radio 1xtra and even more recently recording a guest mix for none other than Skream and Benga on BBC Radio 1. Shift K3Y has now become an all-round performer and entertainer as well as an incredible vocalist and producer.
