DARK SKY (50 Weapons/Black Acre)

Tom Edwards, Matt Benyayer and Carlo Anderson together form the London based DJ/production unit Dark Sky. With numerous remixes under their belts and a handful of original releases to their name, Dark Sky are picking up some serious momentum, with their infectious brand of soulful garage and funky infused dub house, catching the ear of many a tastemaker. Gilles Peterson, Sinden, The XX and Modeselektor to name a few have all been heavily representing the trio's productions.

Dark Sky - Totem by Black Acre Records

With a packed gigging schedule and plenty of releases in the pipeline, most notably their upcoming EP on Black Acre Records, 2012 is set to be very bright for Dark Sky.

BR #48 Dark Sky from BOILER ROOM.

NEW YORK TRANSIT AUTHORITY (Lobster Boy)

NYTA hails not from the Big Apple, but from Bristol. His real name is Mensah Anderson, but you probably know him simply as Mensah, the dubstep producer who’s released extensively on H.E.N.C.H. and most recently Mala’s Deep Medi Musik.

Mensah first adopted the New York Transit Authority name for a split 12″ release with Conqueror on Redlight’s Lobster Boy label last year. His side, a slinky, 808 house number entitled ‘Off The Traxx’, was caned by DJs like Loefah and Pearson Sound, and deservedly found its way into FACT’s 50 best tracks of 2011.

New York Transit Authority's debut mix dropped this week for Fact Magazine, featuring some new NYTA material alongside the likes of Art Department, Disclosure, Mala, Mickey Pearce, Jessie Ware & T Williams. Check it out here.
