 Born to a pop-rapper mother and a soundman father, it was always inevitable that Reiss Hanson aka DJ CHAMPION would emerge as a serious man of music. Over the past few Champion has been situated within the higher echelons of UK Funky, being tipped by Fact Magazine as one to watch and producing some of the biggest tunes in the Underground House scene. His first release, the 2009 limited white label 'Motherboard'/'Tribal Affair' made big waves in UK funky circles, and hype was built further by his firing unreleased dubplates, such as the cheeky Shy FX & UK Apache sampling '1994' and the anthemic 'Lighter'.

In 2011 Champion dropped a series of devastatingly simple, bassline-driven floor-fillers - the UK Funky anthem 'Lighter' on his own 'Formula Records'; a full re-release of the Motherboard EP on Terror Danjah's 'Harddrive Records'; the 'Rainforest EP' on Roska's Kicks & Snares and the seductive vocal single 'Sensitivity' (which was featured in Fact Magazine's 50 best tracks of 2011):

 With a recent mix for XLR8R and a forthcoming EP on Ellijah & Skilliam's 'Butterz', the future is very bright for the 21 year old producer. His upfront and uncompromising sound is a mixture of funky, tribal house and grime has gained the support of massive DJs like Four Tet, Kode 9, Benji B, Mary Anne Hobbs, Redlight, Bok Bok, Lil Silva, Untold, Roska, Ben UFO, Marcus Nasty and Rinse FM's Oneman.
